Also the safety questions will be slightly different. Here is
some info on that:-

28th March 2017 I underwent my standards check (all driving
instructors must do this test at least once every four years)
and achieved an 'A' grade with top marks for almost every
possible teaching element.

Mini One D with the latest very smooth BMW designed 1.6
litre diesel engine. All the usual refinements like
climate control, power steering, 6 speed manual gearbox.
90BHP and only 99g/km CO2 making this car one of the
least CO2 polluting cars available today. All pupils are
reporting it drives even nicer than the last one! I'm
keeping the old Mini cooper as a backup car.
surveillance of road ahead (not of pupil) and separate rear
facing camera (to monitor traffic at rear) records everything
going on around car at all times (except driving tests). Records
not only HD video but G-forces acting on car and GPS
co-ordinates via Google maps. This is black box technology that

drivers we may strive to adhere to the law - and 99.99% of the
time it's a safe environment there are times when other drivers

Here are a
few examples of the Roadhawk in action - capturing some
recent bad driving in Ilfracombe. If YouTube will allow they can

On a lesson (on roundabouts) today we
come to a roundabout and are forced to
stop when a white caravan speeds onto it
without slowing or giving way! Happens
just as I'm giving the instruction to
check the mirrors on the left which is
why we saw it coming. I leaned over and
gave him gave him a beep! (to warn of
our presence) but they were oblivious!
Just shows the importance of constant
awareness, mirror use and observation
even when we have the right of way!
Driving along St James Place then turned right and met
this driver going the wrong way along this one way
street - he seemed oblivious!
Whilst on a driving lesson driving down New Barnstaple
road on which we have priority a taxi approaches fast
from the left (Highfield road) to a STOP junction. He
neither attempts to either stop or look and I have to
quickly force our car over to the other side of the
road to avoid him. Silver Skoda
